The ninth, eleventh and twelfth hours of the Agpeya are prayed
The hymn “Niethnos Teero” is chanted in its known tune followed by the Fourth Hoos.
The Watos Psali for the feast is chanted in the joyful tune
The Saturday Theotokia is chanted followed by the explanation in the Hosanna tune
The conclusion of the Theotokia is chanted in the Hosanna tune.
The Offering of the Morning & Evening Incense
The service is prayed as usual, in the Hosanna tune, with the following observations:
The deacons chant the verses of the cymbals in the joyful tune, with the addition of the verses for the feast.
The doxologies for the feast are chanted, followed by the doxologies for St Mary, the saints and conclusion.
After the “Evnoti Nai Nan” and “Kirie Eleyson”, the hymn “Eflogimenos” is chanted, followed by the response of “Ousanna Khen Nietechosi”.
The Commentaries are read.
The Procession of the Cross is conducted with the litanies, gospels and responses chanted at the 12 twelve stations. Followed by a procession around the church, chanting “Eflogimenos”. (Note that this Procession of the twelve stations is not a rite for the Evening Incense, however can be conducted to allow the congregation to participate in the evening rather than early the next morning)
The Litany of the Gospel is prayed and followed by the Psalm and Gospel responses for the feast.
The priest says the three absolutions and the service is concluded as normal with the response for the feast.
The Divine Liturgy
The third and sixth hours of the Agpeya are prayed.
The hymn “Alleluia Fai Pepi” is chanted.
After the Thanksgiving Prayer, the hymn “Sotis Amen” is chanted, followed by the Ministers Absolution.
“Tai Shori” is chanted, followed by the hymn of the intercessions as usual.
The Acts Response for the feast is chanted.
The Synaxarium is not read.
The hymn “Eflogimenos” is chanted, then followed by the special paralex “Fi-et-hemsi” and the Trisagion.
The Litany of the Gospel is prayed the Psalm chanted in the joyful “syngary” tune and followed by the Psalm response for the feast.
The three Gospels (Sts Matthew, Mark and Luke) are read and the responses chanted in the Hosanna tune for each.
The Litany of the Gospel is prayed again with the Psalm response, Gospel of St John and corresponding Gospel response to follow.
The Aspasmos (Adam and Watos) for the feast may be chanted.
The fraction for Palm Sunday is prayed.
Psalm 150 is chanted in the Hosanna tune with the response for the feast.
A melody for the feats is chanted after Psalm 150.
The hymn “Eflogimenos” may be chanted.
The priest dismisses the “Angel of the Sacrifice” but does not give the benediction or permission to depart. The concluding hymn is not chanted.
The priest closes the veil of the sanctuary and begins the General Funeral Prayer.
